March 22, 2010 - Rain Gutters

After a 1 1/2 years of getting dripped on when we left the house in the morning, we FINALLY hired someone to come out and put rain gutters up on the house.  He did a great job and we LOVE not having to dodge drops as we leave in the morning.  We're going to move the downspout on the porch because it looks kinds funky, but it was a communication problem on our end and is luckily an easy fix!

John's new car

As many of you know, John bought a used Audi A4 awhile go and sold his much-loved Honda Civic.  He loved that Audi!  Unfortunately, we found out a transmission replacement was on the horizon and it would cost $6800.  John was crushed!!  That's more than the Audi was worth.  I suggested trading it in for a new car while it was still running well.  He was not overly thrilled with that idea until he did some research and found that the transmission seems to be an issue in that model and there was really no hope for it.  :0(  So, John took a weekend to do some internet shopping for a new car.  We went to a Honda dealer to check out what was available and ended up driving home in a brand new Honda Accord!!

It's a great looking car and really comfy.  We're both really happy with it.  As sad as John was to give up his beloved Audi, the Accord is starting to grow on him.  It's a good thing it is because we're keeping this car forever!  He ended up with a silver one, so I've named it the Silver Bullet.  Hehe.

March 10, 2010 - Bored Dog

This is what happens when you have a puppy who's home all day by herself and gets bored.  She drags pickets from the corner of the yard (not really sure what the game plan was for where she dropped them) and digs a holes.  It's a good thing we're getting ready to rip everything out of the backyard anyways or Nala would 2 really angry parents on her hands.

Academy Awards

We typically don't do much for the Oscar's other than watch a bit of the red carpet and the show.  This year we were invited to a high school friend's home to watch with her and her husband.  We thought it would be a good chance to catch up and a fun way to watch the show.  We had a great time!!  Sarah made a table-full of yummy appetizers and a delicious raspberry dessert.  We went online and printed ballots for the awards and chose who we thought would win before the show started.  Since none of us had seen more than a couple of the movies nominated, it was a complete guessing game.  It was funny because Sarah and I ended up matching on many of our picks.  In the end I had guessed the most correct - I was feeling pretty lucky so I wasn't surprised.  :0)  We had a great night and look forward to getting together with Sarah and Kevin soon.  Thanks again for a wonderful evening!
