July 4th - Independence Day!

This year we had a very busy Fourth of July weekend so we opted for a low-key Independence Day celebration. The evening of the fourth we went to my parent's house for a BBQ dinner. John and my Dad smoked pork ribs that were delicious! We also had hamburgers and hot dogs, fruit, Asian salad, corn on the cob, and more! It was really nice because we all got to sit around, relax, and talk for awhile. John and his Dad even relaxed in the spa a bit. It was definitely a needed break after working our tails off in the heat the few days before. (We had to empty out my parent's next door rental "storage facility".)

We were lucky enough to be entertained by Taylor and Nala before dinner. They are both absolutely obsessed with water. Taylor picked up Papa's hose and managed to get that stiff nozzle to spray. That was Nala's cue to run over and attack the water. The two of them had the best time!! Taylor would spray the water a few seconds, Nala would attack it, then Taylor would throw down the hose and laugh her head off. (Nala was really careful around Taylor. She only went after the water and kept back from Taylor. We have the best dog.) Here are a couple of pictures and some video of the action. I love it!

After the fun was over, we headed to our house so we could set off some Safe-and-Sane fireworks. The boys always have a fun time starting things on fire. :)

Sparkler fun

Bobby thought it would be fun to light a flower on top of the ladder. Good thing it went out into the street and not up the driveway!
