Dear Landen,
You made it! You are one month old!! You’ve had a rough go of it in your short little life but you’re strong and a fighter. Mommy and Daddy are so proud of you. You spent 15 days in the hospital this past month. We wish you would have stayed put in Mommy’s tummy and avoided at least the first 11 days, but we’re so happy to have you here with us. You are such a sweet baby. You sleep a lot since you are a newborn (and it’s still another week before your due date). We bought you a small playpen bassinet so that you can sleep with us in our room. We were going to have you sleep in your crib from the start but with your immature lungs we got nervous about you being in the next room. We move the bassinet out to the family room during the day so we can all be together. You love to stare at lights when you are awake. You sneeze and hiccup all the time. It’s too cute!
You have yourself on a very strict 3 hour feeding schedule. Your tummy gets empty and you’re ready to eat! You drink Enfamil Newborn formula. You like it but your tummy is still immature so you tend to get gassy and uncomfortable. Daddy and I try to help you get it out so you’ll feel better. You had been wearing Newborn diapers but when you were sick at the hospital you switched to size 1. We didn’t even notice the Newborn diapers were getting too small – a nurse told us! Mommy and Daddy are still new at this whole parenting thing. Right now we’re starting to switch your clothes from newborn to 0-3 months. Mommy is going to miss your teeny tiny outfits but she’s excited about a whole new wardrobe of clothes to dress you up in!
You weigh 9 lb. 9 oz. already!! Mommy shudders to think of how big you would have been in her tummy if you’d stayed in all 40 weeks. You have a cute little double-chin. Daddy is still off of work for a couple more weeks so we’ve been hanging out as a family every day. Your dog Nala will sniff you every once in awhile and maybe kiss your hand, but mostly she just ignores you. I know you two will have lots of fun when you’re bigger. She can teach you how to play soccer!
We love you so much little one!
