Landen’s photoshoot for July had an Independence Day theme and I loved it!!!!  Landen wasn’t super smiley (again) and he melted down pretty quickly at the end, but Jessica got some cute pictures none-the-less.

Practicing eating yogurt melts and puffs. He’s not much of a fan.  Not because of the flavor, but because he has some texture aversion issues.

Both Nala and Landen love this little rope (it’s actually out of one of Nala’s dog toys).  It’s funny what they gravitate to.

Monday, June 25^th

Landen loves our printer because it beeps when we pushes the buttons. If he disappears for a minute or two it’s a safe bet to look for him in the office.

Wednesday, June 27^th

A particularly messy “blow-out” diaper led to an emergency morning bath. His back was so covered with poop that I removed the changing pad cover, wrapped him up in it, and carried him to the bathroom that way. What a mess!

Normally my camera is off-limits as a toy.  I decided to let him play with it for a minute … until he started banging it against the coffee table leg!

Thursday, June 28^th

The City of Lakewood puts on free concerts in the park on Thursdays during the summer. We decided to go to check out the “surf rock” band. They were pretty good and we had a nice time. Landen’s getting more adventurous so we had to work at keeping him on the blanket.

Landen went to Target with Mimi and opted to take a nap while she shopped.

We were surprised in the evening when Landen picked up one of Nala’s balls and started playing fetch with her. Landen needs to work on his throwing arm a bit but Nala doesn’t mind too much.

Lolo Peping was fake sneezing and apparently Landen thought it was hilarious. We’ve never heard him laugh so hard!

Nala loves to go to the park. When we get home from work she follows John around like a little lost puppy just hoping he’s going to take her. On the days he asks her if she wants to go she absolutely loses her mind with excitement! Sometimes there’s a lot of jumping around (like in the video below) and sometimes she runs around like crazy. I just had to get her antics on camera so I asked John to wait to see if she wanted to go until I could get the video rolling. This is actually one of her less exuberant displays. She’s so cute!

Poor Nala is always being bothered. Landen loves her so much and she’s so gentle with him, but I know she wondering why this kid won’t just leave her alone.

June 17th: Father’s Day

John’s first Father’s Day ended up being a quiet one. We spent the day with his family the day before and his Dad was just getting out of the hospital from having back surgery so we didn’t get together with him. My dad was busy so we decided to get together with him a different day. We hung out as a family and spent most of the day at home.

John’s cousin Jacquie graduated from college so we attended her celebratory lunch at California Pizza Kitchen. Landen was a hit, of course!

Look at how beat up I am?!?!?!!  I pulled one of the dining room chairs down on top of me.  I fell back and hit the ground.  Then the chair hit my head and rebounded and hit it again!  Mommy and Daddy saw it happening but didn’t have a chance to grab the chair before I toppled over.  I screamed bloody murder after it happened.  I’m doing ok now.
