Dear Landen,
You are 13
months old! Daddy and I are still trying
to wrap our heads around you being a toddler already. You had your 1 month checkup just after your
birthday. You’re very healthy (96th percentile for height, 82nd
for weight!) and we got the ok to switch you from formula to whole milk. You
didn’t even notice the difference when we switched! You don’t like it super cold from the fridge
though so we heat it a tiny bit to take the edge off. Since you’re still have a
bit of trouble eating table foods we were referring for some testing to see if
there’s some physiological going on or if you just need more practice. You tried scrambled eggs and waffles this
month with little success. You put them
in your mouth but then wouldn’t chew them up and swallow! We have to be careful when we give you snacks
or cookies because you stuff them all into your mouth at once and then start
gagging.
You
definitely had a growth spurt this past month. Your 12-month pants were too short almost
overnight so you’re now wearing all 18-month clothing. Shoes seem like they are going to be an issue
because your feet are a bit wide. You
didn’t get any new teeth this month but you can see several bulging under your
gums – especially the bottom molars.
You wake up
at about 7or 8, take a short 45 minute morning nap, a longer afternoon nap, and
then go to bed at 8. This month you got
the croup and it was pretty miserable at night time. You threw up
several times from the coughing – twice all over Mommy!!! After a couple nights of you choking and
struggling to breath, we took you to the doctor for some medicine. Once you started the steroids you were so
much better!!
You are a
walking machine these days!! Once you started walking you pretty much didn’t
stop. You crawl now and then, but not
too much. You loved walking in front of
the castle at Disneyland. It made Mommy
a little teary eyed. You still like the
rides at Disneyland ok, but generally have a “what the heck is all this” look
on your face. You are uncomfortable around
strangers (even Papa) and cling to our legs, but you warm up eventually. You love to turn on toys with music and
dance. You are starting to show a little
bit of frustration with some of your toys and have tiny tantrums when they don’t
do what you want them to. Your lawn
mower is especially frustrating to you for some reason.
Generally you’re
still a pretty happy and easy little guy and we love seeing how much you’re
changing and growing. We love you so
much!!
Mommy and
Daddy
We aren’t
taking official monthly pictures anymore (thank goodness) but here is one of my
favorites from the past month:
