May 20th – May 27th: Disney Cruise along the Pacific Coast – Day 1

Monday, May 20th - Sail Away
Vacation time!!

Our family decided to go on a Disney cruise and invited our families to join us.  The ship was being moved from Long Beach to Vancouver for their summer Alaska cruises so they had a special repositioning itinerary up the Pacific Coast that isn’t normally offered.  We jumped at the opportunity for a family vacation with Landen and then my parents, John’s parents, and John’s great aunt and uncle decided to joined us.  John and I decided that after the cruise we would travel down to Seattle just the 3 of us for some extra exploration.  The trip turned out to be really great!  Landen was an amazing traveler!!  First cruise, first bus ride, first train ride, first airplane ride … the kid was a trooper!  We were so proud of how well he did during the long meals (Mommy brought a bag of tricks to keep him occupied) and being in new places.

Cruise itinerary – Disney Wonder:
  • Day 1: Departs the port of Los Angeles on Monday, May 20, 2013 at 4:00 PM
  • Day 2: Day at sea
  • Day 3: Port - San Francisco, CA at 8:00 AM
  • Day 4: Port - San Francisco, CA until 4:30 PM
  • Day 5: Day at sea
  • Day 6: Day at sea
  • Day 7: Port - Victoria, Canada from 8:15 AM to 4:30 PM
  • Day 8: Disembark at the port of Vancouver, Canada on Monday, May 27, 2013 at 8:30 AM
Leading up the cruise I (of course) went into travel agent mode and sent out informative emails and did some extra planning.  I bought supplies to surprise everyone with “Sail Away Bags” full of goodies and little necessities (forgot to get a picture :( ).  I also made the whole group magnets to decorate their stateroom doors.  They’re fun and they also make it easier to find your room along the long hallways.  Here are ours:

After a flurry of packing (and re-packing because Landen kept pulling things out of the suitcases), we finally were packed up!  The only thing we were waiting on before heading out the door was Landen to take his nap.
But I don’t wanna sleep!

He finally fell asleep but then woke up grumpy.  Didn’t he know we were headed off on a fabulous adventure!?

We dropped Nala off for her extended stay at Aunt Joi’s and then headed to my parent’s house where James Smalling picked us up and took us to the San Pedro cruise terminal.  As we were unloading our luggage I realized I had forgotten to bring the bag tags!!  D’oh!!  I couldn’t believe it.  Luckily they got us squared away and it wasn’t an issue.  I’m amazing how much luggage and gear the three of us needed.  Yeesh.

Walking into the terminal with Mimi and Papa.

Luckily our room was ready as we boarded the ship so we headed straight up.

We got a new backpack since we’re returning cruisers.  I had also arranged a little surprise for the cabin.

Time to decorate our door!

We decided to do a little exploring to get our bearings.  Landen was very excited to see Mickey Mouse (from afar)!

Here we go!!

That night we got to meet our fun table staff:
Server: Orestes Moraniec
Asst. Server: Theoca (Theo) Voges
Head Server: Harry Simons
Stateroom Host: Sakol Poonpipat

We set Landen up to sleep on the sofa with a baby gate.  I was super nervous about it since he’s always been in a crib but he did really well.  He only fell out once or twice.  :/
