February House Construction

We certainly wound down the house construction journey this month.  In fact, we’re moving in!!

We were very excited to have the painters come in and to get some color on the walls.  Unfortunately, their execution left a lot to be desired.  They worked over a couple of days and we believe there was more than one crew.  The crew who did the addition painting did a pretty good job.  No major complaints.  The crew who painted the office and Landen’s room was absolutely TERRIBLE.  I couldn’t believe how bad a job they did.  The pictures I took don’t really do it justice.  I spent a lot of time fixing mistakes and getting the room to a point where I was ok with it.  I would have rathered the paint crew came back and did the job right but they weren’t available and we had deadlines.  That company will never have our business again.

Office paint from afar … love the color!

First coat of blue in the bedroom.

We still can’t figure out why they didn’t paint the wood attic access.

Here are a couple of the paint issues. Professional job huh?

Once the walls were painted we had carpet installed in the bedroom and closet.  We thought we had picked a perfect match to the existing house carpet but we obviously didn’t get a good look at it from the tiny sample.  We like it though.  Once the carpet was in we could get the new furniture arranged and MOVE IN!!!

While we had our contractors working at the house we asked them to do two other improvements.  When we initially did the kitchen remodel there was a giant cabinet at the end of the peninsula that created a lot of wasted space.  We asked if they would install a shelf so that we could use the space better.  What a difference!  The whole cabinet needs to be organized but we already love it.

Since the addition forced us to lose our window in the laundry room we asked if they could build us some cabinets in its place.  We LOVE all the storage space in the laundry room now.  This project was well worth every penny.

And here is a quick view of what the backyard looks like now with the addition.

Although the process took much longer than we were expecting, it was really quite easy.  Our contractors are great.  We love all the new space we have.  And going from a 1 to a 2-bathroom house is nothing short of amazing!
